Abstract: This paper presents an optimal approach for the simultaneous design of gear ratios and gear shifting strategy for a parallel HEV equipped with AMT. For this purpose, an AMT model with a double sided clutch is initially provided and integrated into a pre-transmission parallel HEV model for vehicle powertrain performance evaluation. To optimise the gearshift strategy and gear ratios, a GA process is then performed for several traffic conditions of Tehran driving cycle. This study reveals that simultaneous optimisation of HEV gear ratios and gearshift strategy noticeably improves vehicle fuel economy and emissions.
