Abstract: Training enables employees to acquire work-related knowledge. It increases productivity and flexibility, enhances work skills and influences the organisational efficiency. However, there are no clear answers about mechanisms that lead to such effects. A research among Slovene enterprises shows an indirect impact of a combination of training and training transfer factors on organisational performance. We believe that support provided by employees' direct superiors strongly impacts the organisational performance. Weaker impact is recognised by the training and organisational incentives. Peer support has impact on training but not on behavioural and cognitive changes, which show strong impact on organisational performance.
