Abstract: AIDS or acquired immune deficiency syndrome is the disease, when the immune system becomes irreparably damaged, engendering multiple infections and cancers. Human immunodeficiency virus on invading the body specifically attacks T-cells, a core part of the human defence system which mobilises other cells to seek and destroy infectious foreign elements. So, the T-cells are targeted because the AIDS virus parasitizes the cluster of differentiation 4 (CD4) molecules on their surface. The objective of this study is to compare the herbal and synthetic drugs against the CD4 protein with Protein Data Bank ID 1WIO, which is responsible for a syndrome. The comparative study was performed by automated docking using Lamarckian genetic algorithm method, AutoDock4.

Keywords: human immunodeficiency virus; AIDS; cluster of differentiation 4; CD4 molecules; CD4 protein; herbal compounds; synthetic drugs; therapeutics; genetic algorithms.
