Abstract: This article examines the conceptual establishment of |digital life|, and shapes the Korean Government|s IT policy for its early realisation. The process of selecting core technologies from promising digital services is illustrated by applying the basic concept of digital life to the field of wireless telecommunications in Korea. The article also explores several social, legal, and strategic issues for the successful deployment of digital life and suggests a stepwise approach for an efficient promotion policy. It further proposes that the government should make efforts to create new markets for firms involved in providing digital life equipment and software, by beginning the digitalisation of public services and reinvesting both in the development of a diverse range of more attractive digital services, and in lowering the service prices.
