Abstract: The present paper deals with the efficiency, accuracy, and robustness of numerical methods for computing turbulent flows on the basis of statistical turbulence models (RANS) and Large Eddy Simulation (LES). Various techniques concerning the discretisation and solution procedures which are helpful in improving the performance of such computations are presented. Corresponding capabilities are illustrated by considering representative test cases for RANS and LES computations.
