Abstract: This paper proposes a four-step method for simulating the car-entering movement for variably dimensioned vehicles: build an adapted movement database; identify and characterise the car-entering movement strategies and sub-strategies; simulate the trajectories of the characteristic points for a new vehicle; compute the joint angles and the pelvis orientation and simulate the car-entering movement for a new vehicle. The method is validated on an experimental vehicle. In spite of the differences between the measured movement and the simulated one for the new vehicle, the same sub-strategy is adopted in both movements. Trials are proposed to improve the simulation.
