Abstract: This paper develops a framework to explain how institutional and competitive conditions interact with the partnerships established between domestic and multinational corporations and resultant impact on the technology transfer in a large transitional economy. By using an in-depth case study approach based on historical data and events, our observations show that we can learn more about technology flow based on the international partnerships from one of China|s most important technology-intensive industries by examining changes across multiple institutional and market dimensions.
