Abstract: This issue investigates how the complex dynamics of human emotions make it impossible to distinguish between functional and dysfunctional leadership behaviour. The intention is to (re)examine the phenomena of leadership and emotions in organisations by investigating the blurry area between functionality and dysfunctionality. It is our hope that this will inspire academic and professional colleagues to (re)investigate the complex nature of leadership and emotions in organisations from a more reflexive approach accepting that leadership is not just a |technology| that aims at increasing the desirable of functionality and reducing the undesirable of dysfunctionality.

Keywords: human emotions; functional leadership; dysfunctional leadership; leadership behaviour; functionality; dysfunctionality.
