Abstract: Novel nano-flowers and nano-particles of copper(II) phosphate tri-hydrate, Cu3 (PO4)2.3H2O, have been synthesised by the solid-state reaction between NaH2(PO4) and Cu(OAc)2. The nano-materials were characterised by scanning electron microscopy, X-ray powder diffraction (XRD) and IR spectroscopy. The thermal stability of nano-structure Cu3(PO4)2.3H2O was studied by thermal gravimetric and differential thermal analyses and showed that there is a loss of weight in the TGA curve that proves the existence of three water molecules in compound which evaporate at 100-500°C. This study demonstrates the solid state may be suitable method for the preparation of nanoscale materials with different and interesting morphologies.
