Abstract: Water-jet guided laser micromachining is a new development of laser machining. In this paper, a numerical model for the action effects between the water-jet guided laser and the material is developed. Using the software ANSYS, the process of the water-jet guided laser micromachining of 65-Mn steel was simulated. This paper presents the investigation on the distribution of temperature field and stress field during water-jet guided laser micromachining. Some simulation results have been verified against experimental data and a reasonable correlation has been found.
