Abstract: Various gas thermal methods (gas-flame, plasma and detonation spraying) for increasing the erosion resistance of materials and parts made of them are studied. Wear resistance, laws and mechanism of erosive wear in abrasive stream were determined. In order to estimate the wear resistance of powder coatings the criteria of hardness of structure and abrasive were suggested. Some ways of increasing wear resistance and getting new erosion resistant powder coatings have been studied. The recommendations for selecting tile materials for erosion resistant powder coatings and the methods of their laying are given. The principles for the choice of powder coatings subjected to abrasive erosion have been offered.
