Abstract: The study of joining similitude is carried out by experimental tests. Static and dynamic tests on scaled box beams exhibit a welding scale effect. Changes in the design of joints and manufacturing methods between models and prototype are also studied. Box beams joining by Tig welding, laser welding, riveting, bonding, riveting/bonding are studied at scale factors of 1/2 and 1/1.
