Title: State support for energy savings and protection of the environment in the Czech Republic

Abstract: This paper informs on the support provided by the Czech Republic with the aim of reducing energy consumption and of improving the impact of energy activities on the environment. It is, above all, focused on the main strategic objectives of the National Energy Concept of the Czech Republic, namely: creating the necessary legislative and economic frameworks to motivate energy producers and energy distributors to environmentally considerate behaviour;securing a decrease in both energy and raw material intensity in the Czech national economy to the level desired in advanced industrial countries; reducing the energy intensity in the tertiary sphere by means of programmes oriented at energy savings and at higher usage of renewable energy sources. The paper describes the role of the competent governmental bodies of the Czech Republic in securing achievement of the objectives of the National Programme of Economical Energy Treatment and of Renewable Energy Sources Usage and also gives characteristics of the main types of projects supported.
