Abstract: The function of the receptor sensitivity of a territory to placing emission objects (roads, factories, electrical power plants etc) on it can be effectively calculated with the aid of the mathematical apparatus of conjugate problems. Solutions to conjugate equations make it possible to determine the effect of pollution in the form of aerosols or harmful gaseous impurities on the environment and human health. Examples of calculations of the sensitivity function by solving a conjugate problem are given. Mathematical models for typical problems of optimal siting of enterprises are formulated and interpretations of the results obtained are given.

Keywords: receptor sensitivity; risk assessment; conjugate problems; emissions.
