Abstract: Nanocomposite (NC) comprising poly vinyl alcohol (PVA), hydroxyapatite (HA) was synthesised using in situ mineralisation of HA within PVA aqueous solution. Freeze/thaw physical cross-linking along with both freeze/dry and particulate leaching methods were used to prepare porous polymeric matrix. TEM imaging ratifies formation of HA nanoparticles while FTIR analysis revealed the formation of chemical bounds among hydroxyl functional groups of PVA chains and hydroxyapatite structure. Mechanical tests were benefited to evaluate mechanical properties of the samples.
