Abstract: Iron oxide nanoparticles as Fe3O4, magnetite, were synthesised by the glycothermal reaction of metal acetylacetonate and 1,4-butanediol at 200-270°C. The products were then calcined at different temperatures in the range of 300-700°C. All products were characterised by TEM and XRD. It is found that the calcination temperature is an important factor and can control the product type. The nanoparticles were successfully synthesised with size ranges about 15 nm.
