Abstract: Sliding mode control has been applied to the design of many missile autopilots. In this paper, a control method with the primary feedback being proportional to the switching is developed for eliminating the disturbance effect due to model uncertainty. With this control method, a sliding mode autopilot is analysed. Then, a composite sliding mode control strategy is discussed to reduce the switching frequency. Numerical simulation results show a good performance of the composite control system.
