Abstract: The importance of mechanisms of ADR is discussed because of the developments occurred during the last two decades. The application of types of ADR systems and of theory to legislative institutions has identified the advantages and barriers of these systems. The objective of this paper is the presentation and critical analysis of the application of ADR, within the traditional Judicial System, based on data collected for our research for EIM. Advantages, problems and the provisions of the Greek Law for ADR, are also presented. Special reference to mediation is given since it is often and successfully used in many countries.
