Abstract: The case for US government technology policy in manufacturing is well understood. This paper sets out to provide guidance on what policies and programmes are needed. Such policies and programmes need to conform to certain principles, they must be targeted, and they need to be comprehensive. There will need to be a diverse set of institutional participants/stakeholders at the |big table| where a coherent technology policy for US manufacturing is established.
