Abstract: In this paper, to be intended as a work in progress, we present a conceptual framework to define indicators of information technology in order to be able to measure efficiency in the hospital. The development of the framework is carried out based on an explorative study in a non-profit hospital, located in North Rhine-Westphalia, in central Germany. First, the domain of processes is selected. Then the adopted technology to the selected processes is analysed. Indicators will be defined based on impact of adopted information technology as the result of the analysis. The potential of new information technology, such as Radio Frequency Identification (RFID), will be discussed to improve performance of the indicators defined previously.
