Abstract: In his/her driving strategy, a driver looks for the information necessary for driving the vehicle. The visual system manages most of these data which come mainly from outside the passenger compartment. Consequently, visibility is a very important part of safety and comfort for the motorist. However, it is not easy to point out the limits of good or bad visibility. This paper deals with quite a few locus points regarding visibility, how to measure it, with which instruments. In this way, according to the objective data obtainable from these measures, we will be able to compare different cars to determine ergonomic features to be taken into consideration.
