Abstract: Deregulation of trucking in the US led to the creation of a new industry - truck brokerage - to help market the trucking service. Brokers are particularly useful to small, newer carriers that need help finding shipments. Brokers help shippers by offering lower prices or more convenience, i.e. they can often find a carrier or a particular type of truck quicker than the shipper. Deregulation of trucking can help an economy improve efficiency and become more competitive on a global basis.
