Abstract: The agri-machinery sector in Bangladesh is reliant on OEMs for spare parts production. The local OEMs performance remains a critical concern; they face challenges in quality control, supply chain, etc. This study evaluates local OEM's performance to identify strengths, weaknesses, improvement areas. A survey was conducted among 30 OEM representatives. Data analysis revealed that majority of OEMs face challenges in design capabilities, with 80% lacking them, and 63.3% having poor QA. R&D investment is minimal, 66.7% making none; workforce training remain inadequate, 66.6% offering little. Environmental compliance is inconsistent, 76.7% have weak energy efficiency practices. 83.3% lack supplier's partnership, affecting market expansions. The study recommends that, to stay competitive in the global market, OEMs should strengthen quality control, enhance supply chains, invest in worker training, and embrace innovation. These findings have implications for policymakers, stakeholders, and researchers aiming to establish a self-sufficient agri-machinery sector.
