Abstract: Despite the importance of active inter-industrial knowledge flows for national competitiveness, there has been no appropriate indicator through which the patterns of inter-industrial knowledge flow can be examined. Therefore, in this research, we propose various indicators that enable us to comparatively analyse industries in terms of knowledge flow. As proxy measures for knowledge, we make use of patents exhibiting technological knowledge and papers representing scientific knowledge. Although the Korean example may not apply to other countries due to its unique characteristics, the proposed framework will help us examine industrial idiosyncrasies and enable an international comparison.
