Title: Energy efficiency optimisation of port clusters based on improved NSGA-III multi-objective criteria

Abstract: Optimising port cluster energy systems is essential for balancing economic and ecological goals. Challenges like energy mismatch and multi-energy coordination are difficult for traditional models to solve. An improved NSGA-III algorithm - with adaptive crossover and dynamic reference points - enhances solution quality for high-dimensional problems like cost, emissions, and efficiency. Applied to a coastal port's integrated energy system, it optimised capacity across seasonal scenarios. Results showed an 18.5% cost reduction, 23.7% lower CO2 intensity, and 15.2% higher energy efficiency. Dynamic pricing in berth allocation further saved $1.013 million annually and increased shore power use by 34.6%. The algorithm also proved more efficient and robust in tests. Ship simulations confirmed additional energy savings, demonstrating synergy between energy and traffic flow optimisation.
