Title: Exploring beliefs and awareness of destination bicycle tourism: perspectives of tourists and service providers

Abstract: Bicycle tourism presents a promising pathway for sustainable development, contributing to SDG1, SDG3, SDG6, SDG8, SDG11, SDG12, SDG13, and SDG15. Stakeholder involvement - particularly tourists and service providers - is essential for establishing successful destination bicycle tourism. A review of existing literature reveals limited research and low awareness of bicycle tourism in India, despite the country being the world's second-largest bicycle producer with usage largely restricted to low-income groups. This study investigates stakeholder awareness and beliefs regarding their role in promoting destination bicycle tourism. A descriptive research design was employed, using an inductive literature review and a self-developed questionnaire validated by expert review and pilot testing. Data were analysed using JMP software. Findings highlight the relationship between stakeholders' current awareness levels and their beliefs concerning bicycle tourism, offering insights for advancing sustainable tourism practices in India.
