Abstract: Now-a-days many software companies are undertaking agile software development along with traditional software development based on waterfall model. Effort estimation is an important constituent of any software development firm as it can measure the success rate of a software project. In this paper, an analogy-based model for effort estimation is proposed for agile projects. The model is evaluated on three agile data sets and evaluation criteria used are Mean Magnitude of Relative Error (MMRE), Median magnitude of relative error (MdMRE) and prediction (PRED). The results demonstrated that the analogy-based model for effort estimation which was extensively used for traditional software development works well with the projects developed using agile methodologies also. Two statistical tests are also performed, Friedman's test and Holm Post-Hoc test based upon the MMRE values. The results of these tests communicated that analogy-based effort estimation can be done for the agile projects as well.
