Abstract: This research explores the perceptions of Italian businesses and non-profit organisations regarding the impact of artificial intelligence (AI). Through a questionnaire administered to legal representatives, the study aimed to understand the prevailing opinions on the potential consequences of AI. The results reveal a widespread belief that AI will significantly disrupt various aspects of life and business. While the majority anticipate radical changes, concerns were also expressed regarding potential wars and violence, particularly among SMEs and non-profit organisations. The research highlights the need for a nuanced understanding of the implications of AI, dispelling myths and misconceptions about its positive and negative potential. Drawing upon anthropological and ethological studies, the paper discusses the parallels between the current AI-driven transformation and historical shifts in society. It emphasises the importance of proactive adaptation, highlighting the need for leadership, knowledge acquisition, and ethical considerations to successfully navigate this technological revolution.
