Abstract: The step-by-step development of an improved compressible Navier-Stokes (N-S) solver is demonstrated. The code is applied first to the prediction of unsteady inviscid bi-convex blade cascade flow and then viscous flow in a compressor blade-to-blade passage. The flow is simulated by the introduction of a stagnation pressure perturbation at the inlet boundary coupled with the phase shifted periodic boundary condition. For the space discretisation, the no free parameter, non-oscillatory, dissipative (NND) scheme is coded. In the case of temporal discretisation, a TVD type Runge-Kutta (R-K) method is used. The solver is second order accurate in both space and time. The computed results have shown good agreement with other predictions. The code is robust without artificial viscosity and can capture non-oscillatory shock.
