Abstract: The formation of (HydroxyApatite) HAp coatings on metals employed as orthopaedic implants through a hydrothermal synthesis route, is reported. Solutions with calcium ions complexed with EDTA and phosphate were used and the influence of pH, temperature, and surface activation on the coating and its adhesion is analysed.
