Abstract: This study investigates the complex relationship between green intellectual capital (GIC) and environmental performance (EP) in Vietnamese small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), with a focus on the mediating roles of green knowledge sharing (GKS) and green innovation (GI). Using a questionnaire-based survey with data from 509 participants and employing partial least squares structural equation modelling (PLS-SEM) for analysis, this research offers fresh perspectives on how GIC influences EP. The results show how green human and structural capital directly impact EP, while green relational capital's effect is mediated through GKS and GI, thereby revealing varied mediating pathways. This investigation not only highlights the importance of GKS and GI in enhancing EP, but also contributes to the broader intellectual capital theory and practices aimed at environmental sustainability. It suggests future research exploring various settings with additional mediators or moderators, advancing understanding of GIC's impact on environmental sustainability and its mechanisms.
