Title: The effect of cognitive factors on pro-environmental behaviours: the role of environmental value

Abstract: This study intends to investigate how cognitive factors including environmental knowledge, awareness and concern and affective factors including environmental social value (ESV) and environmental emotional value (EEV) impact on pro-environmental behaviour of hotel guests. 250 participants in the research were surveyed and they were hotel guests who used to experience the hotel service in the past or are staying in 4-star hotels and 5-star hotels located in Ho Chi Minh City, Viet Nam. According to the study's findings, there is a significant impact of environmental social behaviour of hotel guests, which is a main determinant that influences the intention of people to have an eco-friendly manner when staying in hotels. Additionally, the study verifies that environmental concern and environmental awareness have the greatest impacts on environmental value. Through the above findings, the research illustrates some suggestions that businesses can implement to improve environment of hospitality industry.
