Abstract: As highly integrated distributed networks become a reality, there are a variety of demands on the quality of healthcare service such as decentralised healthcare through integrated regional health telematics network, ubiquitous access to information on best clinical practices and exploitation of virtual environments technology. The purpose of this paper is twofold. Firstly, distributed information architecture to achieve telemedicine is proposed to handle difference in geographic location of patient, caregiver and medical equipment. Secondly, a numerical simulation is performed for the diagnosis of a patient|s intracranial blood flow using a Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) technique-based on patient-specific Magnetic Resonance Angiography (MRA) data. Integration and distribution of the MRA data from the database system of the Wayne State University Radiology Department were conducted over the information architecture presented in this paper. The simulation results are accessed by medical experts in a remote site for the purpose of diagnosis and/or medical training.
