Abstract: Nowadays, financial technology (FinTech) has attracted increasing attention worldwide and has become more notable in defining incremental, or disruptive innovation development in the financial services industry these days. The aim of this research is to examine the factors that influence the adoption of FinTech in Malaysia from 2001 to 2020. The research investigates whether the determinants of FinTech adoption contribute to changes in Malaysia's total issuance of corporate sukuk. Hence, the independent variables that were chosen in this study are technology development, financing, and development of SMEs, while FinTech would be the dependent variable. This paper consists of a quantitative method and several data analyses to identify the relationship between the dependent and independent variables, namely descriptive analysis, normality, regression, and covariance. The sources of data collected are varied for example, Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM), The World Bank and Department of Statistics Malaysia (DOSM).

Keywords: financial technology; FinTech; technology development; financing; development of SME; Malaysia.
