Abstract: The purpose of this study is to investigate knowledge sharing through knowledge management systems (KMSs). More precisely, it aims to provide an explanatory framework for the use of electronic knowledge repositories (EKRs) for knowledge sharing. Based on the technology acceptance model (TAM) and the socio-technical approach to KMSs, an explanatory model of the studied behaviour is proposed. The model is then tested with 383 individuals belonging to a world leader in the food industry and a global company specialised in technological solutions. The data collected from the sample are analysed using exploratory and confirmatory analyses through structural equation modelling. The findings indicate that the variable 'perceived usefulness' has a direct and significant impact, while the variables 'sharing culture' and 'perceived ease of use' have an indirect and significant impact on knowledge sharing through EKR.
