Abstract: This paper aims to study the micro aspects of the implementation of international trade policy, with an emphasis on the relationship between people's concerns for the environment and their preferences for trade policy. It is undertaken based on questionnaire surveys conducted in Bangkok, Thailand. Logit technique is found to be proper to estimate the marginal effect. The main result shows that understanding and accurate perception about both the liberalisation of trade policy and environmental issues can influence people's support for the openness of trade policy. More importantly, the investigation reveals the positive relationship between the awareness of environmental problems and the favour for trade policy liberalisation.

Keywords: trade policy preference; trade liberalisation; environmental concerns; Thailand.
