Abstract: This paper presents an asymmetric enciphering technique for binary and greyscale images that uses amplitude and phase truncation operation in fractional Fourier domain. Affine transform is used to introduce randomness for additional security, and to resist specific attack recently mounted on asymmetric schemes. The scheme is validated for binary and greyscale images in MATLAB. The affine transform parameter and the orders of fractional Fourier transform serve as encryption keys in addition to two private keys of asymmetric cryptosystem. To check the efficacy of the scheme, keys sensitivity has been analysed. The scheme is also analysed against occlusion and noise attacks. Other usual attacks and the specific attack on the scheme are also discussed.

Keywords: asymmetric cryptosystem; affine transform; fractional Fourier transform; binary and greyscale images.
