Abstract: The average and instantaneous throughput are maximised in this paper for drone communications using RIS with wind energy harvesting. We set the packet duration to optimise the throughput. The results are valid for drone communications. Instantaneous throughput maximisation (ITM) allows 5 dB gain compared to average throughput maximisation (ATM). Average throughput maximisation allows 6 dB gain over other packet size. The performance is investigated for Rayleigh channels and any wind speed. The harvested power depends on the power of tree of wind speed. Wind speed is random and follows a Weibull distribution. We also derive the SNR statistics for drone communications using RIS with wind energy harvesting. Throughput enhancement of drone communications was not yet studied. ATM offers 6 dB gain versus other packet lengths. ITM offers 5 dB gain versus ATM.
