Abstract: The irrational consumption of energy and natural resources and the high prevalence of waste have resulted in negative impacts on the environment. The need for green and sustainable supply chain management has emerged to rethink the coming threat in the near future by spreading a culture of green consumption. The study aims to shed light on the Tokyo 2020 Olympics as a model for green transformation in the organisation of major international forums and to overcome all obstacles, especially in light of the spread of the Corona virus. The study found that Japan, by adopting GSCM practices (green procurement, green manufacturing, green transportation and distribution, reverse logistics) achieved three benefits of sustainable development (environmental, financial, social) taking advantage of the popularity of the Olympic Games to spread environmental awareness.

Keywords: green supply chain management; green procurement; green manufacturing; green transportation and distribution; reverse logistics; Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games.
