Abstract: This study investigates the thermodynamic performance of a cogeneration system activated by combining solar and biomass energies from an enhanced exergy analysis viewpoint. The results show that in the conventional exergy analysis, the biomass boiler has the highest exergy destruction with 79% of the total destruction. The results of the enhanced exergy analysis provide that the superheater has the highest portion of exergy destruction of the avoidable exogenous component. The share of exergy destruction in the endogenous avoidable part of the pump and the thermal storage tank is 69% and 55% higher than the values of other components, respectively.

Keywords: cogeneration system; enhanced exergy analysis; biomass; solar; exergy destruction.
