Title: Concept and dimensions of employee development and talent development: distinctions and similarities

Abstract: Nowadays, two approaches, employee development and talent development concepts, are interchangeably used by the researchers of human resource development. So in this study, these two concepts are thoroughly discussed through an exhaustive literature review to identify whether they are similar or if not then what the difference between them. In order to compare the development of both approaches, the concepts and dimensions are identified. The study also exemplifies how these words are used interchangeably in articles. With the help of keywords taken from the concepts and dimensions, the two terms are distinguished from each other. At last, a comparative analysis has been presented in table form for easy understanding of the similarities and differences. Based on the literature review, it can be said that talent development is an updated concept of employee development concept; it is a personalised development concept. The practices used in talent development are person-specific.
