Abstract: An extensive literature survey on quality management maturity assessment has revealed a research gap and a lack of holistic-integrated approaches in existing frameworks. A novel framework is being proposed based on the most widely used critical success factors for quality management implementation identified in the literature. The proposed Glykas Quality Compass framework assesses implementation maturity and provides an alternative to the aforementioned research gap. For the assessment of the efficacy of the proposed framework an ISO 22000 maturity assessment matrix was created and implemented in a fruit canning company. The application of the proposed framework proved to be very successful both in terms of concept validity and ease of use. The significance of the study is multi-fold as it proposes a novel holistic quality management maturity assessment framework and a generic maturity assessment matrix on the application of ISO 22000 that can be used by both academics and practitioners.
