Abstract: Aeronautics, space and defence industry is characterised by the usage of highly regulated and technically complex inputs. Most regulatory agencies and buyers of products or services in the industry, instruct firms to conduct business with partners that possess a supplier quality management system (SQMS). SQMS includes documented processes and procedures for managing one's suppliers. Keeping this in mind, the present work focuses on demonstrating the implementation of a variant of failure modes and effects analysis (FMEA) which is process FMEA in the aeronautics, space and defence industry. Using an action research methodology, we present and discuss the case of original brand manufacturer (OBM) that has implemented PFMEA to manage supplier's risks. As part of a quality early warning system (QEWS), the approach was implemented for the fairings sub commodity for a total of 11 work packages, five suppliers and one product program. Further, the present work serves as a reference mechanism for practitioners and academicians in aerospace manufacturing industries.
