The issues of changes in the population dynamics in recent years in the light of the demographic transition theory are considered. The paper presents demographic data of the country's economic zones according to the latest national censuses of the Republic of Azerbaijan. The influences of the economic development level, youth migration, and the policies carried out by the government are analysed.
