Abstract: This research aimed to evaluate the in vitro sensitivity of P. nicotianae isolates towards azoxystrobin and fludioxonil. Additionally, the curative and protective efficacy of these fungicides in aqueous postharvest treatments against Phytophthora brown rot was evaluated. Azoxystrobin- and fludioxonil-amended wax were further evaluated for the prevention of brown rot spreading within export cartons. For both fungicides, previously unexposed and exposed populations were divided into different fungicide sensitivity groups. Groups were statistically different based on EC50 and EC90 values. The fungicides had good curative action with applications 12 hours after inoculation. Applications 24 hours after inoculation also provided some curative action but not as effective as earlier applications. Azoxystrobin provided very good protection with inoculations up to 48 hours after application. Fludioxonil did not perform as well. Trials aimed at preventing disease spread during transit indicated that only azoxystrobin-amended wax prevented brown rot from spreading to healthy fruit.
