Abstract: To improve the security of power system, this paper studied the protection principle, method and application of electronic power system. Based on the parallel oscillation factors of converters, the fault characteristics and regulation characteristics of power system were analysed by combing and summarising the oscillation mechanism of electronic power system. After the fault direction was determined, the frequency response method was used to calculate the additional damper controller. The mathematical differential equation was established according to the fault data. The input variables of the additional damper were obtained to establish the feedback control model, thus realising the process of suppressing the oscillation and protecting the electronic power system. The experimental results showed that the amplitude of power system oscillation suppressed by this method rapidly dropped below 0.10 rad s- at the protection time of 25 s, suggesting strong protection ability.
