Abstract: Cloud computing is an emerging technology for sharing many resources such as memory, storage, and CPU. The resources vary due to the adaptive nature of the cloud computing. Effective management and continuous monitoring of these resources throughout the time may be the essential in making the cloud computing system successful. Hence, in this work, an effective Virtual Machine resource monitoring and management system using software defined networking approach is proposed. Implementation of this proposed resource monitoring system using Mininet has proved efficient allocation of jobs to the suitable virtual machines and thereby achieving the effective reduction in the response time for the cloud users. Comparison of the proposed algorithm with the existing algorithms has shown the improved cloud system performance with the proposed approach.
