Abstract: A special care and concealment is required for medical images, since judgment is done on the information got through medical images. Transmission of medical image demands strong security and patent protection in telemedicine applications. A highly secured and robust watermarking technique is proposed for transmission of medical image through internet and mobile phones. The region of interest (ROI) and region of non-interest (RONI) of medical image are separated. Only RONI is used for embedded watermarks. The medical image watermarking technique presented here is based on integer wavelet transform (IWT) and bidiagonal singular value decomposition (BSVD). The original image is decomposed by IWT, and then the greyscale watermark image is embedded in the bidiagonal singular values of the low-frequency sub-band of the host image. An experimental result on benchmark images clearly tells that the proposed scheme is highly resistible to attacks and has good invisibility.
