Abstract: An alternative fuel termed biodiesel is created by changing the molecular structure of vegetable oils through a process called transesterification. It is necessary to do experimental research on biodiesel's impact on lubricating oil degradation before it is widely used in transportation engines. To correlate the impact of fuel chemistry on the performance and longevity of lubricating oil, numerous tribological investigations into lubricating oil were undertaken. The performance of several biodiesels blended fuels was compared using a number of tests, including those for density, viscosity, moisture content, differential scanning calorimetric, and others. According to numerous reviews of the literature, the performance of biodiesel blend diesel fuel is determined to be superior, and using biodiesel is proven to affect lubricating oil life. Numerous studies have demonstrated that the performance outcomes for engines using biofuels are satisfactory. This review paper focuses on various edible and non-edible seeds vegetable oil effects on engine oil tribological properties.

Keywords: biodiesel; diesel engine; viscosity; tribological property; density; lubricating oil.
