Abstract: This study depicts the level of efficiencies of the states of India (Abraham, 2017) based on input productivities like investment, material, fuel, wage and value of output. Panel data estimation was employed in the study to capture the dynamic behaviour of the parameters and to provide more efficient estimation and information of the parameters. Technical efficiency of the states was found using stochastic frontier analysis as an alternative to ordinary least squares (OLS). All the variables were measured with the confidence interval level of 95%. The technical efficiency of Delhi, Andaman and Nicobar, Kerala, Chandigarh and Sikkim were found to be 6.66, 6.576, 6.578, 6.608 and 6.576 respectively.

Keywords: technical efficiency; states; stochastic frontier model; investment productivity; wage productivity; stochastic frontier analysis.
